Football may be played thousands of kilometres away in European stadiums, but for millions of fans in India, the sport is deeply personal. Late-night matches, heated debates over rival clubs, and emotional celebrations have turned football into a global culture that transcends geography.
For Maaz, that shared passion inspired the creation of Shop Football, a bootstrapped direct- to-consumer brand founded in 2021 to bring football culture into everyday fashion.
Like many fans growing up in India, Maaz's relationship with the sport was shaped by watching international leagues and iconic players from around the world. But he noticed a gap. While jerseys allowed fans to represent their teams on match days, there were very few clothing options that reflected football culture in daily life.
Shop Football was built to fill that space. The brand creates football-inspired apparel that celebrates the moments, stories, and emotions that define the game. Instead of relying solely on club logos or traditional
merchandise, many designs reinterpret legendary football moments and fan culture through minimalist/ maximalist graphics and modern streetwear aesthetics.
Operating as a bootstrapped D2C brand, Shop Football has grown by staying closely connected to its community of fans. Its storytelling, humour, and design language are shaped by the same football culture that its fans live and breathe.
While the inspiration behind the brand comes from the global game, the products themselves are made in India, reflecting a growing movement of homegrown brands building products that continue to push the boundaries.
“Football connects fans across countries, languages, and cultures,” Maaz says. “Even though we watch matches from thousands of miles away, the emotions are the same everywhere.”
By blending global football inspiration with locally made products, Shop Football aims to give fans a new way to express their connection to the world’s game — both on and off the pitch.
